For more than 20 years, Marcus Harden Givens has invested his time, energy, and resources into uplifting Jacksonville. As a proven leader in housing initiatives, healthcare access, workforce development, and youth mentorship, Marcus has dedicated his life to a simple, powerful belief: public service must put people before politics.

Over the past seven years, Marcus has maintained a constant, active presence on Jacksonville's Northside. He doesn't just show up during election years—he lives, works, and serves alongside District 10 residents, local churches, and community organizations day in and day out. Through his hands-on leadership, thousands of local families have been connected to vital resources, including fresh food, stable housing support, healthcare services, and employment pathways.

Strong neighborhoods are the absolute foundation of a prosperous District 10. Every family deserves a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home. As housing costs continue to rise, Marcus is focused on protecting long-time residents, supporting first-time homebuyers, and ensuring our neighborhoods grow responsibly without losing their character. Marcus will advocate for policies that preserve existing affordable housing, offer property tax relief and repair assistance for seniors, and incentivize developers to build quality, attainable housing. By investing in our local infrastructure—fixing roads, improving drainage, and upgrading street lighting—we will build clean, safe, and vibrant neighborhoods we can all be proud of.

Better Healthcare Access

Quality Care for Every Neighbor

Access to quality healthcare should never be determined by a person’s ZIP code, income, age, or access to transportation. Marcus believes that a healthy community is a thriving community. He is committed to breaking down the systemic barriers that prevent Northside residents from receiving timely, affordable medical and mental health services. On the City Council, Marcus will advocate for mobile health clinics, partnerships with local healthcare providers to expand clinic hours, and increased funding for preventative care initiatives. By bringing resources directly into our neighborhoods, we can ensure that every resident—from our youngest children to our cherished seniors—has the care they need to live healthy, dignified lives.

Food & Resource Security

No Family Left Behind

No family in District 10 should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from or how they will keep a roof over their heads. Marcus has spent years on the ground working alongside local food banks, housing advocates, and community organizations to bridge the gap for families in crisis. He will work tirelessly to eliminate food deserts on the Northside by incentivizing grocery stores to open in underserved areas, supporting community gardens, and expanding local food distribution networks. Additionally, Marcus will streamline access to emergency housing assistance, utility support, and employment resources so that no neighbor is left behind in times of hardship.

The future of District 10 depends entirely on the opportunities we create for our young people today. Every child and young adult in our community deserves access to safe spaces, positive mentorship, constructive after-school programs, and robust job training. When we invest in our youth, we build a safer, stronger Jacksonville. Marcus will champion local workforce development programs, summer youth employment initiatives, and partnerships with trade schools and local businesses. By creating clear pathways to good-paying jobs and providing positive outlets for creative and athletic expression, we will empower the next generation of District 10 leaders to discover their purpose and reach their full potential.

Public service must be rooted in trust, and trust is earned through transparency. For too long, residents have felt disconnected from the decisions made at City Hall. Marcus believes that you deserve leadership that is honest, accessible, highly responsive, and accountable to the people—not special interests or political parties. Marcus is committed to bringing City Hall directly to District 10. He will host regular, accessible town halls, maintain an open-door policy, and provide clear, public updates on how city funds are being utilized in our neighborhoods. You will always know where Marcus stands, how your tax dollars are being spent, and how your voice is being represented.
